Ruchi + Vikash Highlights - Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA

When we first met Vikash and Ruchi, they told us that their families were extremely traditional and after spending the week serving them, I can honestly say that this is by far one of the most traditional Indian weddings we have ever attended. Mehndi and Sangeets are really just the tip of the iceberg!

Witnessing Vikash and Ruchi getting married was a truly amazing experience because of the love that was shown and exuded by their families for them. All the siblings on both sides planned amazing programs for both the Sangeet and Wedding reception. In Indian culture a marriage is really about two families coming together. It's through the friends and family that you can truly see who the people are and Ruchi and Vikash both exude a charisma and kindness that transcends the world.

The wedding day was an extravaganza of elegance at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose with decor provided by Ajooba Events. With an all star photography team from Joseph Pascua Photography and Desi Connexion the day was a breeze.

Prerna + Amit's Wedding - Silver Creek Country Club, San Jose, CA/ Fremont Marriott, Fremont, CA

We had first met Amit one year prior at the wedding of Shachi and Sid where he gave a hilarious toast and a speech talking about Sid in college.  Little did we know just a few months later Amit would meet Prerna his bride to be. They were originally introduced through family friends and exchanged information. They liked what they saw on paper and started emailing each other.

Is there a magical formula for Love? Can a marriage be calculated? According to Prerna and Amit it can.  Ten months later they met for a veterans day weekend in Cambridge, MA. Prerna wanted to show Amit around Harvard where she had studied a few years ago. Amit planned a surprise romantic dinner at an uber chic place at Harvard square. When they had finished dinner, the server came back out with a dessert platter that had ‘ will you marry me’ written on it with chocolate. Prerna was shocked and supremely flattered.

Fast forward to the wedding day one week before Xmas. An exceptionally beautiful day in the bay area for late December. The wedding ceremony was held outdoors at the picturesque Silver Creek Country Club in San Jose. The back drop was an amazing waterfall just off the 18th green. The mandap was elevated and decorated with shiny mirrors that reflected the light of the sun back down on the couple.

The procession (Barath) started in front of Silver Creek Country Club and continued all the way down to the waterfall.

After the ceremony the guests went up to the club house where there was a beautiful italian luncheon and then it was back to the Fremont Marriott for the evening reception, which was filled with performances, friends, family and fun.

Grace + Warren's Wedding - Santa Maria Cathedral, Orinda, CA / East Ocean Seafood Restaurant, Emeryville, CA

When I first met Grace and Warren, I walked into their house and it was lined with cages. I was a little confused and then I saw him, Dusty the bunny! Grace and Warren own three bunny rabbits. There was a lot of bunny love in that room. Joking aside, they were awesome and authentic, (I'm talking about Grace and Warren not the bunnies), and there was an instant connection. Hearing Warren’s story on how he proposed was very funny.

Grace first met Warren at her sisters house when she was watching Saturday morning cartoons. Warren came out of his room sat down on the couch and proceeded to lie down and sleep. It did not leave a good impression. Fast forward ten years and Warren tries to propose to Grace by slipping a ring on her finger while she was asleep, to trick her into saying yes. However, instead of saying yes she told him she’d think about it, thinking Warren was joking around. Then she saw the ring and made him get on one knee and redo the proposal. (Wow! He can write our scripts!)

Fast forward to the wedding day and we start off by getting a phone call from Warren saying he has slept in, seems consistent, right? ;) Anyhow we met him at Emery Marina and drove into town to pick up his vehicle of choice for the day, a 2011 Tesla Roadster! I have to tell you I didn’t think electric cars had that much torque, but this thing hauled ass! We brought out our new Hero2 gopro cam and played around with it on the car and got some pretty cool footage. It was sweet!

We drove back to the hotels in style. Grace and Warren got ready at adjacent hotels in Emeryville and were married at the beautiful Santa Maria Cathedral in Orinda, CA. It was an amazingly beautiful day for mid December without a cloud in sight. After the ceremony we drove back to Emery Marina where the reception was held at East Ocean Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant out on the bay overlooking the golden gate bridge. The reception was filled with family and friends and a blending of Asian and Philippino cultures, including an amazing Lion Dance that we had never seen before!

Congrats to Grace and Warren ( and the bunnies, especially you Dusty!)!

Stay tuned for the highlight video!

Renu + Vikram's Wedding - Saratoga Mountain Winery, Saratoga, CA

This was a sweet tale of e-love from the realms of deep cyberspace. Believe it or not, Renu answered an email that was over 6 months old from her internet dating site. As fate would have it, Vikram was calmly there on the other end to recieve it. Several months later and many many emails, this match made in cyberspace became a true reality.

The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Saratoga Mountain Winery, in Saratoga, CA. We arrived just in time for the sun rising over the coastal range in the east. As the magical light fell upon us the tents and man dap were built on the Chateau Deck overlooking the entire South Bay.  There is something really special about the early morning even more special than the evening, when the suns rays first sear the earths surface.

The ceremony was a fusion of culture and two religions since Renu from Kerala, India was Christian and Vikram from Tamil Nadu was Hindu. The Hindu ceremony started out with both receiving their wedding garments from the Pundit and then going back to their changing rooms to change quickly coming back out to the ceremony where the ceremony was conducted in full under a hot sun. Shortly, after the Hindu ceremony there was an officiant who conducted the Christian ceremony for the two and they exchanged rings in front of the congregation.

Following the ceremony there were light refreshments served under the tents, including fresh young coconuts, which I thought was a unique touch. A beautiful luncheon reception was held in the top floor of the winery deck building right behind the amphitheater. South Indian cuisine was served and an Indian duet of the tablaa and sarod played on stage as everyone helped themselves to the buffet style food.

Sima + Vikash's Wedding Highlights Video - Boulder Ridge Golf & Country Club, San Jose, CA

A new love connection that spans the Atlantic, literally, Sima and Vikash met online on Shaadi.com over in the UK. Sima recently moved over from California and within a few months met her husband to be, Vikash. That's what I call an "e-rranged" marriage (where cyberspace meets Indian dating).

Both Sima and Vik had a carefreeness about them, which made the day very enjoyable and made it extremely easy to work with them.

The setting for this grand occassion was the beautiful Boulder Ridge, Golf Course in San Jose, CA. The links span over 6256 yards and run up and down the ridge creating epic vistas. (I can’t wait to play this course, but it’s private).  The traditional barath with the groom riding in on a horse was modified and Vik's vehicle of choice was a golf cart with a big UK flag on it! The ceremony was held atop the highest peak in the golf course and concluded with Sima and Vikash racing away off into the hills in a 2012 Ford Mustang.

Reception was held at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in San Jose where both families danced and drank the night away to the tunes of DJ salim.

Susan + John's Wedding - Thomas Fogarty Winery, Woodside, CA

Believe it or not Susan and John originally met over a game of diplomacy. And after being in a relationship that has spanned the last 10 years, they finally decided it was time to stop playing “games” and make it official.

The Filmtwist crew started off at John’s place for a poker tournament with his groomsmen (Prizes were given out in international currencies!!) and then moved over to Susan’s apartment just a few blocks away in downtown Palo Alto. When we arrived we found the bridesmaids stuffing themselves with heat pads ready for the cold and a potential rainy day. Susan shared heartfelt gifts with her bridesmaids that made for some very sentimental moments.

After we bolted up the foggy ridge onto Skyline blvd to Thomas Fogarty Winery where the wedding and reception were to be held. As we arrived the fog slowly started clearing and for a few moments right before the ceremony we had glimpses and flickers of sunlight shining down upon us.

The cocktail hour was very unique with tons of games and activities for the guests to enjoy themselves. It was held underneath the pavillion, which overlooks the east vineyards, very beautiful. Afterwards everyone moved inside for dinner and night full of crazy dancing including a special dance led by one of the couples friends.

Stay tuned for the highlight it’s gonna be a good one!

Kavitha + Levi's South Indian Wedding - Palmdale Estates, Fremont, CA

What do you get when you put a mechanical engineer and lawyer together and have them date for 10 years? The answer is an amazing couple who knows how to have a good time with technology.

Kavitha and Levi’s wedding took place at Palmdale Estates in Fremont, CA. The day started off with Kav and Levi getting ready on the grounds. Both had two-way radios so they could talk to each other throughout the morning hours. It was a blast to watch them go back and forth on the radio communication before the ceremony. I almost thought they were going to take the radios into the ceremony they were using them so much, but finally put them away minutes before walking outside.

The ceremony was a traditional South Indian Ceremony, and for of you who have not attended one, they are very different than even your traditional Indian Ceremony. Everything seems to be more and longer when it's from the South and we always learn something new every time. After the ceremony the bridal party played with radio controlled helicopters they bought from Fry’s electronics. Fitting for a technical couple as this.

The reception was held at the Crownze Plaza Caban in Palo Alto, where the family danced the night away. Interesting to note that at this wedding literally the entire reception was on the dance floor. This family definitely has some moves!

Watch out for he highlight coming soon!

James Leonard: Abstract Artist

Filmtwist had the pleasure of following James Leonard, a world renowned Master Abstract Artist, and capturing his unique process of abstract painting on camera. It was  amazing to see how much personality really goes into any artists work and the analogy drawn between art and knowing one's self.

Enjoy!

Bria + Dave's Ocean Song Wedding Highlights Video- Ocean Song Farm, Occidental, CA

Bria and Dave's wedding was a creative, magical, and authentic inspiration to all who attended. The Wedding took place at Ocean Song, a magnificent setting, located in the serene coastal hills of Sonoma County. The rustic and elegant beauty, combined with the breathtaking ocean view sweeps from Mount Tamalpais to Point Reyes were amazing, though on this particular morning there was an abundance of fog that gave the wedding a magical and sureal feel.
